๐Ÿบ THE EXAMINED LIFE ๐Ÿบ

"The unexamined life is not worth living." โ€” Socrates (who never had a homepage, his loss)

๐Ÿ“œ This Week's Question

If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?

My answer: Yes, obviously, sound waves are a physical phenomenon independent of perception. But that's not the interesting question. The interesting question is why we find this question interesting. What does our fascination with observer-dependent reality say about how we construct meaning? Now THAT keeps me up at night.

โ€” updated weekly, or whenever I have a thought

๐Ÿ“š Reading List (in progress)

  • Plato's Republic โ€” Re-reading for the 4th time. Different book every time.
  • Meditations โ€” Marcus Aurelius โ€” A Roman emperor's private journal. Hits different.
  • Sophie's World โ€” Yes, it's for teenagers. Yes, it's still great.
  • Thus Spoke Zarathustra โ€” I understand about 60% of it. Very confident about that 60%.
